Awesome Cable Man!

On Saturday the Kiddo and I went for a walk. The weather in the evenings has been much nicer lately. Still warm but not unbearable. I'm enjoying it. (I'm totally looking forward to getting my sweatshirts out again though.)

We left the house around 6:15. Stopped to get the Kiddo an ice cream and Mommy a Diet Coke and then headed home. When we got home I put the Kiddo in the tub and got on the internet. I wasn't on the net long when it decided to stop working.

Now our internet has been doing this recently. It will turn off for anywhere from a few minutes to an hour and then come back on. I thought that was the case this time. When the Kiddo got out of the bath we turned on the TV. Nothing. Cable out.

Our cable and internet are from the same company so I called them. They told me they put in a work order and could have someone out today. I was happy that it would be fixed but kept thinking about not having my internet all day Sunday and then some today. I'm addicted to the internet, so this was not a pleasant thought.

Then yesterday morning I looked at the cable modem box and the internet light was on! So I tried the TV, Yes, it also worked! Shortly after I noticed that there was a knock on my door. I opened it to find the cable repair man (on a Sunday morning)!

He told me that it was bothering him that we would have to go so long without cable and internet so he came out. (Awesome!) Turns out my neighbor STOLE my cable! (Grrrrr). He told me he wrote them a nasty note and cut all their wires! :)

Anyway, I'm happy to have my internet back! Thanks cable guy for coming out on a Sunday morning!

LGenV3? Yupper!

I've been receiving e-mails from Verizon lately letting me know that my "new every two" plan was due and I was eligible for a new phone.

Now, I'm pretty practical. I kind of think, if it isn't broke, then don't fix it. And my phone was not broken. I had an LGvs3800.

This turned out to be an excellent phone. Every other phone I had was always dead or dying well before my two year contract was up. Not this one though. My "New every two" was up on August 16, 2008 and this phone STILL works.

I just started thinking about an upgrade and how nice it would be. A few weeks ago I mentioned it to J that I would be interested in upgrading and he basically said "Go for it." But, again, I couldn't get past that I really didn't NEED it. I finally talked myself into it by telling myself that I should upgrade now while my phone still worked, in case the new phone (or J's phone) decided to die. Then we would have a back up in my old phone.

So I visited Verizon's website and found a phone that I really wanted. I had already decided I wanted another LG since my last one lasted so long. I picked out the LGenV3.

I knew I didn't want a touch screen. I also wasn't so sure about the full keyboard thing (now I kind of like it, after playing with it for a day). But this one really stood out. Then I checked the price and saw that you got $50.00 off if you purchased the phone online. Nice! Also, after a nice long chat with a Very helpful Verizon employee (Charlston) online I found out that I could also take off my $50.00 credit for an upgrade. Nice (again)! I ended up with a $129.99 phone for $29.99. Triple, Nice!

So far I'm very happy with my new toy. I'll probably put an update up once I get to know her better.

Now, should I name her like Cate did?

A Perfect Getaway? A Perfect Joke.

So, I made it to the movies last week. My choice? A Perfect Getaway.

As I watched the previews for this movie it kind of reminded me of Harper's Island. I really liked Harper's Island and was sad when it ended. So I thought I would give this movie a shot. Plus my cousin suggested that I watch it. I guess I my first clue as to it's quality should have been when she described it as "Funny." I thought it was supposed to be some kind of horror/thriller type of thing?

I get to the theatre. Three people in there (including me). Okay, a few more came in later, but still there were less than two dozen people in all. A sign? I should have taken it as such.

All the previews were for icky, gross looking horror/slasher movies. I don't normally do slasher movies. They just go way too far overboard with the gore. Disgusting! (The only exception to this would be the Scream movies, which for some reason I do like. I think it may be the mystery. You don't know who did it until the end.)

Then the movie started. What ensued was pure ridiculousness! (Is that a word?) I laughed more than anything. Redeeming quality? Timothy Olyphant the "Jedi." I'm pretty sure I won't ever be watching this movie again. I should have gone to see The Time Traveler’s Wife.

Has Anyone Seen my Baby?

My Kiddo is growing up so fast it almost makes my head spin!

For the first time the other day I got the "Why?" question. Well, actually it was "Why not?" but I was totally blown away. Where did that come from?

He gets dressed all by himself. He puts his own shoes on. He can hold a conversation with you. All this makes me just stand and stare at him sometimes and think "What happened to my baby?"

A couple weeks ago he told me I was his best friend. It was so sweet. I decided I was going to write that in his book. I figure one day I'm going to have to pull that out and say "Look at this, you once told me I was your best friend."

I wonder how much longer I can count on my kisses having healing properties. All this makes me tear up.

I remember the day he was born. I was holding him and I looked at him and thought. "Oh my word, you're going to grow up and get married and leave me one day, aren't you?" I know that's funny to read (I attribute it to CRAZY baby hormones) but it really is amazing how fast he is growing up.

I'm told (by a number of people) that it's time for him to have a sibling. I'm not sure I agree with that quite yet but I sure am thinking "Where has my baby gone?"

Time to Wash the Baby Clothes?

I saw a mouse! There was a mouse! This made me very upset! I do not like rodents. I don't like rodents of any kind. Hamster, gerbil, mice, rats all the same to me. GROSS!

Anyway we live in an apartment complex and a couple years ago I saw a mouse. So I went to the office and told them to see if there was anything they would do about it. They told me they could give me the little glue trap but that was it. Glue trap? I think not. I went to Walmart and bought a proper Mouse trap. I set it once, twice, three times. Aparently this is a very intelligent mouse.

Next thing I know the maintenance guys are knocking on my door. "We need to look in your storage shed and see if there's a mouse hole in there because your neighbor has seen a mouse." Well, I told them they could certainly check it out but we have a lot of stuff in that storage. So they asked if we could move some stuff around and call them if we found a hole.

So, yesterday J went out in the heat and pulled a bunch of our stuff out of the shed and we did find a hole. We also found a box of the Kiddo's baby clothes that J had put out there (even though I requested he didn't because the box was falling apart). Since the box was in shambles I decided to pull all the clothes out, wash them and repack them in a better way.

So last night I spent some time folding baby clothes. It's been a long time since I folded clothes that small . . . Did it make me want another kiddo? Maybe, but not just yet. Anyway, the Kiddo was sure that they were all his clothes, which they were but it's not like he was going to be able to wear them again. That didn't stop him from trying them on.

(The Bib says "Baby's 1st Boo!")

In conclusion, the clothes are clean and safely put away and the maintenance guys are coming today to fix the mouse hole! A succesful day.

(lol. How many of you did I hook with my title???? lol Facebook friends come follow me on Blogger, please?)

Random Tuesday Thoughts

I love Tuesdays in the Blogger universe. Random Tuesday Thoughts was a stroke of brilliance! (Way to go Keely!) That being said . . . here it is!

randomtuesday

1. I love the chapter in the Bible about Abigail. She was pretty cool, that one. I Samuel 25.

2. I'm SO sick of the "Do you have yellow teeth?" ads that are All Over my Facebook page! Go away! My teeth are fine and I don't need you! Disgusting!

3. I love reading the headlines from those bizarre tabloids (i.e. World News, Sun). They have the craziest stuff. The last one I saw said that they found Noah's Ark in Afghanistan AND . . . wait for it . . . it came with TEN NEW COMMANDMENTS!!!! Uh, huh. Yup!

4. Have I mentioned that I'm so ready for Fall I can almost taste it? I'm looking for Vampire books (Scary ones, not love stories), any suggestions?

5. Mother-in-Law took Sister-in-Law North to College this past weekend (She decided it wasn't for her though. She's very much a stay at home sort of person. I'm not surprised she decided it was FAR too FAR away way up there.). Anyway, On their return trip they stopped in Washington D.C. (Can you say "JEALOUS!?") I have been there before but I wish I could have gone along. I might steal some of her pics to show you . . .

6. Kind of connected to the last one . . . while "up north" Mother-in-Law bought some Lebanon Bologna for us. I absolutely love Lebanon and you can't buy it down here (Dumb!). Just one more thing I miss about living in the north. I can't wait to have some! In a sandwich, by itself, rolled up with cream cheese, the possibilities are endless!

Have a great Tuesday!!

Almost Fall

I was over at Keri's blog (Forever Folding Laundry) reading her Signs post and she absolutely made me want autumn to get here even more than I already did (And that’s an accomplishment)!

I just want to go light my Pumpkin Spice candles, bake a pumpkin pie, decorate with leaves, orange lights and pumpkins, check out Halloween costumes and get a good scary (preferably vampire sub-genre) book from the library.

Speaking of the book. Any suggestions? I want scary vampires not angsty, teenage vampires. Not that I didn’t enjoy the Twilight series, I did. I just want something like “Salem’s Lot” (one of my favorite books) or “Midnight Mass.” Something where a vampire can be a vampire.

Also, any suggestions for good pumpkiny fallish recipes? I’m always looking for a good recipe.

Happy (Almost) Fall!!!

Sunday . . . or is it Saturday?

Another Sunday. Actually, as I write this, it's Saturday evening.

We (the Kiddo and I) are sitting here watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on abc Family. It seems like everytime I turn around this channel is playing a Harry Potter movie. I don't know why we're watching it really, we have them all on DVD. Oh wait, I do know why we're watching it. "Mommy, I want to watch Harry Potter." No problem, I get to watch Alan Rickman. (There is never enough of Snape in these movies.)

Heard some interesting news from my Mother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law today. Stay tuned for that one.

I'm really tired and this post is on the verge of becoming a "Random Sunday Thoughts" so I better stop. We're headed to bed in a few.

Everyone have a wonderful Sunday! Catch ya tomorrow.

Pick a Movie

So many movies, so little time.

We live in an ity bity little town that is a good 45 minute drive from the nearest movie theatre. Needless to say I don’t get to the movies very often. Usually when I do go it’s to see one specific movie that I had been waiting for.

This week I have problems. There are at least four movies that I am interested in seeing. There is no way I’m going to get to watch all these movies. I’m just going to have to pick one (possibly two) to catch in the theatre and wait for the DVD for the others.

The question is which one do I want to see? A Perfect Getaway, The Time Traveler’s Wife or Post Grad? It will probably mostly be up to what’s playing when, when I get to go and the running time of the movie.

We’ll see what happens. I’ll keep you posted.

Thursday

Thursday already?

I know that most people get excited for the weekend and then dread Monday but I think I’m the opposite. You see my least favorite day is Sunday. It’s not that I don’t enjoy attending church and teaching my Sunday school class, because I really do. The thing that I hate is Sunday morning. I hate getting up early and I hate ironing and I hate trying to wake up my husband five hundred times. I hate thinking that we’re going to be late if we don’t walk out the door right now! I just hate all the prep.

Monday makes me happy. Monday means there is a whole week between me and the next Sunday morning. (Plus Craig Ferguson is on Monday, after missing for the weekend, and I’m a big Craig Ferguson fan. When I can stay awake.)

I just realized that I talked all about Sunday and Monday and today is neither.

We have a ladies get together tonight. The ladies from our church try to get together one Thursday evening a month and hang out and talk and eat. I’m not sure yet what kind of snacks I’ll take with me. I guess I should figure that out!

Anyway, it’s Thursday. Have a great Thursday everyone!

Name That Tune

The other day I found myself singing some slow catchy little song when I realized I had no idea where I had heard it. It’s a slow, sway worthy tune and the first few words are simply “Just imagine, just imagine.”

As I was going about the house singing softly to myself the Kiddo came up to me and said “Yes Mommy. Lets watch that.”

Watch? Watch what? I was confused. Then I realized he must have been referring to the little tune I was singing. Good! At least someone here knows where the song came from.

“Watch what?” I questioned, eager to know the origins of the melody.

“Barney, let’s watch Barney.”

“What?! Barney? I’m walking around singing songs from Barney? And then I realized he was right. That is exactly where I heard it, from Barney as he flitted about a playground singing with a bunch of kids.

Point? I need some more adult interaction. Anyone want to come over for a cup of coffee?? Please?

Random Tuesday Thoughts

Tuesday!

randomtuesday

Come play!

1. I HATE fire ants! We don't have them where I live but where my Mother--in-Law lives they thrive! We spent this past weekend there with the ants and they LOVE me. (I think I may be slightly allergic.) Evil little creatures. Noah should have stepped on them both on the ark!

2. One party is over and now it's time to start working on another one. My Kiddo is about to turn Three!!! Yikes! When did that happen? How does a Pirate party sound? I know it's not very origional but he is very into Pirates right now. "Aaarrrrgggg, Matey!"

3. I love the sound of little feet while they're running around and cleaning up toys. The pitter patter back and forth from the toy box. Awesome!

4. This past weekend J, Kiddo and I stayed at my Mother-in-Law's house. (Kiddo and I stayed Wednesday night and then J came on Thursday and we stayed until Saturday.) We all shared my Sister-in-Law's (Bless her heart!) queen sized bed. Where did I sleep? Up against the Wall!!! Where did J and Kiddo sleep? In the middle of the bed! What the . . . ? Needless to say I didn't sleep very well and was VERY happy to be back in my own bed.

5. I have the greatest, most comfortable sheets on my bed. Like sleeping on a cloud.

6. I have never read Pride and Prejudice (I don't know why not, I think I will.) Anyway, I LOVE the movie (Keira Knightly/Matthew Macfadyen version). I think I could watch it over and over again. It's right up there with Sense and Sensibility (Alan Rickman? Yup!!) and Little Women (Winona Ryder version.) These are the movies I decide to watch when I just can't pick anything. Always a pleasure. (Just a note: I like the BBC/Colin Firth Pride and Prejudice too but just not as much as the more recent one.)

7. I hate money! (Well, I would like it more if I had some . . .)

8. If Brett Favre wants to play football then he should play football. I wish he would quit telling us he's going to retire if he's not going to retire. What's the point? Talk about Unstable! This is not because I care, I really don't care anymore. I'm just tired of hearing about it.

Party, Party

As most of you already know we had a party for my Sister-in-Law this past Friday. She will be leaving on Friday, headed north (I’m so very jealous), for college.

Lots of planning, money spent and one failed cake later we had a party. We had a good time and she received many things that she can put to good use while in school.

My addition to the party (one of them) was making the cake. I was very excited about it. I was going to cover a two layer cake in fondant with her favorite colors. I even made all the fondant. When it came time to cover the first layer everything went well. It looked really good and I was very excited. Then the second layer happened. I covered it and put it on the first layer and the fondant started stretching and trying to slide off the cake. I tried innumerable times to fix it and it just continued to pool around the bottom. Finally I gave up. I scraped all the fondant off, trashed it (Can you say “waste?”) and started over.

Instead of fondant I just made butter cream icing and did my best to decorate it without any of my decorating tools. (I had left all my normal cake decorating supplies at home since I was planning on using fondant.) I was actually very happy with the way it turned out.

The kiddo and Niece seem to like it.

I wanted to take a picture of the inside of the cake. By the time I got there it was almost totally gone. I suppose that's a good sign!

All in all we had a great time. A plus was that while I was visiting them we had a meteor shower. Sister-in-Law and I laid out in the back of Mother-in-Law's pick-up truck and watched the meteors. So much fun! It was the best meteor shower I've ever seen.
Good Luck, Tam! Have a great time! Praying for you! Love you!

School Supplies

My Sister-in-Law is going away to College in about a week. Friday night we had a party for her. This is what she opened from us: (Minus the handsoap because my Kiddo found it and thought it was lotion.)

Just a few things that we thought would help her out on her new adventure.

I'll post an update on the party probably on Wednesday.

Have a great day!

Maine? Rina!

Blogging ahead once again. And once again I resorted to Wikipedia’s random article.

Thomaston, Maine.

Well, I know nothing about Thomaston, Maine. Actually I knew very little about Maine in general. I’ve only been there once and it was in December. If I know anything about Maine, it’s that it gets COLD there in December!

Something else I know about Maine is that it’s the current location of my bestest friend. We met in college, lost touch and then a little over three years ago we got back in contact with each other. We were both pregnant and often (like, everyday) would share our experiences (and our complaints).

After we had our kiddos (both boys, three months apart) we had a whole new set of things to discuss. Over the years we’ve grown very close. We've kept in touch often whether through phone calls, text messages, AIM conversations or e-mail. But we still haven’t seen each other since May 2004. Long time, I know!

However!!! This is about to change!!! (I’m excited, can you tell?) You see, she and her family are going to be passing through my part of the country in September (that’s NEXT month!) and will be stopping in here for a few days! I’m so excited!!

Can’t wait to see you Rina!!!

Salem, Massachusetts

Because I’m away for a few days I found it necessary to blog ahead so there would be something to post. Having no inspiration I snuck over to wikipedia and tried a random search. Scary.

Kenmore Square in Boston, Massachusetts.

Well, I don’t know anything about Kenmore Square but I can tell you a bit about Salem, Massachusetts.

My Mom and I took a vacation to Salem and few (okay, it’s been quite a few now) years ago. It was amazing. Actually I was just talking to my husband about it a few days ago. I would love to go back there. Absolutely beautiful!

It’s most well known for the witch trials but there’s more to Salem than that. Nathaniel Hawthorne was born in Salem. There are beautiful beaches and absolutely gorgeous homes.

We rode the trolley around while we were there and our guide recommended we try a “Chop Suey sandwich.” I have to admit, we were skeptical but we did try it and it was excellent. I find myself craving it sometimes. We also toured some historic houses while we were there. That was definitely one of my favorite parts. Who am I kidding? I loved it all.

When we get rich (Uh, huh, yea!), I am absolutely taking my family there again.

Netflix

Does anyone have Netflix? I love Netflix. I love that I can look up movies that no one has ever heard of (Well, maybe not “no one” but close) and find it there. I love that I can do a search for my favorite actors or actresses and find a ton of little known movies that they’ve been in. Movies that are often very good.

You know “The List?” Netflix is great for the list. You can have marathons of just the residents of your list.

I also love that I can keep adding and then go re-arrange my queue according to what I’m in the mood for. Currently my queue holds 158 movies. A lot of them I’ve never heard of but one of my favorites star or have a part in them so I want to watch them.

Their recommendations feature is great too. They look at your movie rentals and what you have in your queue and how you’ve rated movies and then give you a list of movies they think you might like. I’ve found a few lesser known movies that way too.

I like rating and reviewing movies also. I’m glad if I can help encourage someone to see a movie that I really enjoyed or try to dissuade someone from watching a movie that was truly awful.

Go check out Netflix. Totally worth it! (Do you think they need someone for a commercial?)

Random Tuesday Thoughts - New

I just discovered this the other day and thought it would be fun to participate. Here goes.

randomtuesday

1. Why do you park in a driveway and drive in a parkway? (Okay, I know, lame. I'm just warming up.

2. What's with the new ads on facebook that run down the left side of the page? Very irritating!

3. When Bejeweled Blitz resets its scores, it makes me a little sad.

4. When will we get to stop hearing about Michael Jackson? I really think my head may explode.

5. What on earth do you do at a Going Away to College Party? Eat? Sister-in-Law wants to play volleyball (She's addicted). Looks like that will be the whole thing. Some party huh?

6. Will Blogger EVER get my follower thing fixed? I've seen with my own eyes people who's profile says they follow me. However, my own says I have ZERO Followers. Ugh!

7. Do you think my Kiddo is deaf? I mean he seems to hear fine most of the time. Then there are those times that I say "Clean up your toys." or "Stop climbing on that." that it appears he has absolutely no hearing capability at all.

8. I think one of the sadest verses in the Bible is Acts 26:28 Where Paul has just finished talking to King Agrippa and Agrippa says "Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian." How sad. Almost.

9. If you're reading on Facebook please feel free (Please, please, please) to stop by http://www.seansmoma.blogspot.com/ and follow me properly, like a good little friend. (As J would say . . . "I'll love you forever." Thanks!)

This has been Random Tuesday Thoughts. Thanks for reading!

Insufficient Internet

I am sitting here staring at my cable internet box waiting for the “cable” light to light up. For some reason, since Saturday evening it has been very temperamental. One minute it will work fine and then all of a sudden it just stops. Currently it is in a state of non-compliance.

I figured I would take this opportunity to get a blog written. The problem is that the only thing I can think about is that silly little light and why on earth it’s not lit up. I’ve taken to shaking the cable box, this does no good. I’ve unplugged everything and plugged it all back in, also does no good. It simply works when it wants to and quits when it’s tired.

Oh, it’s on! It’s on! . . . . . . . . Well, now that I’ve been sufficiently distracted by the flashing green light I suppose it’s time to sign off. Cross your fingers that it comes back on next time I try it.

The First Step is Admitting Your Problem

I’m sitting here trying to think of something brilliant to write. What do I have? Nothing? On top of having nothing to write I keep looking at the other tab and seeing Bejeweled Blitz (On Facebook). It’s like it’s calling to me. “Come play me! Beat your score! You know you want to! Forget that blog, you’ll think of something later.”

Ugh! Stop! *Covers ears with hands and shakes head* Go away! I have to write!

I may be addicted to Bejeweled. (That’s the first step, right? Admitting it?) It’s frustrating. You only get a minute in which to beat your own or someone else’s high score. A minute (usually) isn’t long enough at all. My best score to date is 145,000. I’m pretty impressed with that. I really don’t see myself beating that anytime soon. It’s much easier to beat my high score for the week. (Currently set at 107,600)

Anyway, there you go. Bejeweled has taken over my life and now my blog is about it too . . . pathetic.

You really should try it!

So So Tired

Busy-ish day yesterday.

Went to the library and printed off copies of the invitation to Sister-in-Law’s going away party. Then I went to Wal*Mart (Naturally. I really should live there.) picked up some soda for J. He was begging for it. Came home, cooked dinner and then took off again for the movies.

This is the shortest post in the history of my posting but I’m so tired . . . ZZZzzzzz . . . What?! Sorry about that. I think I’m going to sleep now . . . Have a great day!

Too Good to be True?

Weeks ago J made plans to go to a concert with his uncle, his brother and his brother’s wife. Last night was the night.

I don’t know how many times I asked J if Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law were going to bring their two kiddos with them (ages 3 years and 1 year). He had no answer. What I expected was for Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law to bring Niece and Nephew with them and drop them at my house for the night. Joy.

What was actually going to happen was this. Sister-in-Law was working at a weeklong summer camp and had left Niece (3) with my Mother-in-Law and Brother-in-Law was bringing Nephew (1) with him. He was going to take the Nephew with him for the night leaving myself and my kiddo alone for the night.

Too good to be true? Yup! I got a phone call from J who said, “We’re bringing Nephew home to you and then going out.” What?! I didn’t sign up for this. I didn’t even agree to this. It wasn’t even a question. It was just “We are.” Grrrr, Argh!

It’s okay. I’m over it. They brought Nephew and he slept so it wasn’t bad. It’s just the idea of dropping him off and then leaving again and not coming home until . . . 3 AM?

A Day for Me, Revisited

So I had my day yesterday. Well, half a day, had to be home by 1:45ish. My plan was to go see The Ugly Truth and then hopefully get to run to (at least one of the following) Hobby Lobby, Outlaw Video (Used video store), Haircut.

The movie. I should have skipped it and done my other stuff. It didn’t do anything for me. I don’t have anything against the actors (If I did why would have gone to see it?) it just wasn’t my thing. Gerry Butler’s character was really annoying, rarely redeeming and the ending was just a mess. It reminded me of that scene in Kate and Leopold where the test audience is rating the movie. That movie was so cheesy. Well, they could have used the last scene of The Ugly Truth in that movie. (Yes I know Kate and Leopold was made years ago. It’s just a comparison.)

After an hour, alright, twenty minutes of previews, the movie finally started. I kept thinking, is it almost over yet? Oh, Honorable Mention to Craig Ferguson though. He always makes me smile. When the movie finally ended I checked the clock.

I decided not to go to the video store because of distance. Hobby Lobby was the next reasonable choice. I walk in the door, I’m there for three minutes and my phone buzzes. J needs something at Wal*Mart. Now I need to leave Hobby Lobby and head to Wal*Mart. At Wal*Mart I thought I would get my hair cut, checked the clock. Didn’t have the time.

Basically out of everything I wanted to do I got to go to the movies and run in and out of two more stores . . . I think I need a do over . . .

A Day for Me

A day for me! Yes! Okay, well, half a day. I have to be home by 1:30 so J can go to work. But until then, the day is mine.

My plan for today is to head across the state line to see a movie. Yes I have to leave the state because our teeny, tiny, little town does not have a theatre (or much of anything else). I think I’ll go see The Ugly Truth.

Then after the movie I have to run to Hobby Lobby and find something for my secret friend. What is a secret friend, you ask? That is when a bunch of friends get together and draw names. The, for the next few months, or however long, you purchase/make gifts for your friend and deliver them secretly. So far it’s been a lot of fun. However, when I find out who my secret friend is I’m going to give them an earful because they keep leaving me Chocolate! Now, don’t get me wrong, I ADORE Chocolate. It’s just not very good for a person who is trying, very hard, to lose some weight.

After that I’ll probably have to head home but I might try to stop in at Cato. I don’t know why, I can’t afford it. Oh I know where else I want to go. The used video store (I love it there). J and I were talking the other day about how terrible of a fan I really am. I have relatively few movies staring my favorite actors (Sean Bean, Alan Rickman, Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones) so I’m going to see if I can find anything interesting. :)

Catch ya later!

I'm So Jealous!!! (David Cook)

Jealous. Envious. Green.

Jealous - hostile toward a rival or one believed to enjoy an advantage.

So, last evening my dear cousin had to opportunity to do something that I have wanted to do for some time, something that I am seriously jealous of her for. She attended a David Cook concert.

For hours yesterday evening I was tortured with the images of her and her friends sitting in a crowd of people listen to the wonderful voice of David Cook without me. Thinking that at that very moment he was singing and I wasn’t there! (Have I mentioned how much I want to be back in Pennsylvania?!)

She did call me though and I listened to it all on my cell. I could hear fine when he was talking, that I could understand. The music parts were a bit garbled though. Its okay, I’ll take it! Thanks Shannon!

If anyone is interested in reading about her David Cook concert experience you can find the whole story at her blog: David Cook

"Closet Land"

I’m a fan of Alan Rickman. I have been for years and over the years I’ve managed to watch quite a few of his movies. I’m still searching for some though.

The other day I was on You Tube and I saw some clips from a movie called “Closet Land.” It looked interesting so I went over to The IMDB and looked it up.

The entire cast consisted of two people Alan Rickman and Madeline Stowe. It looked intriguing and I really wanted to see it so I did a search and found out the entire movie was on youtube in nine parts, approximately ten minutes each.

Off I went to youtube, found the link, hit play and for the next hour and thirty minutes I was completely freaked out. I don’t think I’ll ever look at Alan Rickman the same away again.

Now you should understand that movies rarely, if ever, freak me out or scare me. I’m far too literal a person to experience fear from a couple actors in front of a camera reciting lines. I spend most of the time thinking about the behind the scenes aspect of the movie. Supernatural horrors movies especially do nothing for me. The only exception to this would be “The Ring.” This movie didn’t scare me it was just that the images on the tape were so abstract that my literal mind had problems processing how they all fit together. (Sounds strange, I know. I’ve often been accused of thinking too much.)

“Closet Land” on the other hand is very much a psychological movie. Alan Rickman is an absolute genius in this movie. There is at least one part where he is doing nothing but standing there and talking and I just want to cry. If I were the girl in the movie I would have been scared to death and sobbing buckets of tears. There’s another part where he pulls out an ashtray and once again I found myself freaking out.

This movie is going on the top of my list of freakiest movies. (My husband thinks I’m crazy but he’s totally opposite me. Mind games? I don’t think he would notice, sick a ghost on him and he’ll run for the hills.)

Anyway, if you’re an Alan Rickman fan this movie is totally worth it! Freaky, though it may be. (Link to the first part: Closet Land Part 1)

Have you ever?

I’ve already blogged about the joys of Sunday morning a couple times. So, I decided to give it a rest. I had nothing on my mind and my attempt to find a topic to write about fell flat. My kiddo is also still sick so I thought I might just do something different.

I find this “Have you ever?” survey and thought I would fill it in. Why not? Here goes!

Have you ever done the hokey pokey?

Of course I have. Are there people out there who have NEVER done the hokey pokey? Have you ever ridden over Niagara Falls in a barrel?
Umm, no, and I have no intention of trying it either.

Have you ever danced hip-hop?

Not that I can remember. lolHave you ever prepared a Thanksgiving dinner?
Sure I have. The first time I did it I was so very proud of myself. Everything was ready at the same time and I receive many compliments. Go me! :)

Have you ever gone whitewater rafting?

No. I don’t really have any intention of doing this either. I don’t think it’s for me. You see if I somehow ended up falling out of the boat I would drown. Not because I can’t swim, because I can. No I would drown because I would panic. So, no.

Have you ever worn a clown costume?

Yes, I think I was three or four and it was for Halloween. I still remember it.

Have you ever lied to your mother?

Not recently. If I did it was when I was still very little.

Have you ever learned something from a little child?

I’m sure I have. Nothing is coming to mind at the moment though, sorry.

Have you ever learned something from an elderly person?

Of course, it’s amazing to listen to the stories of people of advanced years (trying to be nice. Hehe). They have so much wisdom to impart.

Have you ever seen a show on Broadway?

I have! I went with my Mom and my Aunt to see Phantom of the Opera when I was a teenager. It was Amazing! I loved every second of it! I really really would love to go back and see it again. An amazing experience. I recommend it to anyone.

Have you ever been robbed?

Well, I lent a couple CD’s out in college that I never saw again. I’m not sure this was intentional robbery though as much as it was forgetfulness on the other persons part. (It’s okay, I didn’t care much for the CD’s.)

Have you ever done a good deed anonymously?

Yes I have. I used to write anonymous notes to the president of my college. Just saying things like, I’m thinking about you or hope you’re having a good day or I remember you when I pray. Nothing spectacular but I love doing. A few times he mentioned it in public and said that he had gotten a note just when he felt he needed it. That was wonderful to hear.

Have you ever been forgiven for something really bad?

I don’t know that I can say that I’ve ever done anything Really Bad. I have been forgiven by God though and I think that’s the most important forgiveness.

Have you ever tap danced?

Yes! I used to take lessons. They didn’t last long though. I could kick myself for not continuing with them. Stupid me!

Have you ever baked bread?

Sure have.

Have you ever had a good friend who has very different views about life than you?

I don’t know about Very different but yes I’ve had good friends with different views than myself.

Have you ever gone ice skating on a pond?

Nope. I’ve been ice skating countless time but on a pond? No thanks. I’m too much of a wimp for that one. I always picture that scene in Little Women (Winona Ryder/Christian Bale version) where Amy falls through the ice. Nope, no thanks.

Have you ever been so happy you cried?

Yes I have. How wonderful.

Have you ever been to a disco?

I can honestly say no. I have never been to a disco. That’s not likely to change anytime soon either.

Well there it is. A bunch of pointless questions answered. Have a great day everyone.

Oops!!

I just realized that I didn’t have a blog for today!

I’m going to blame it on (See me? Always passing the blame) the fact that I was SURE today was Sunday. And all I could think about was all the things I had to do to get ready for today.

I suppose when my Mother-in-Law came on Wednesday it threw me off. On Wednesday I thought it was Thursday. On Thursday I thought it was Friday and on Friday I thought it was Saturday. I guess that means I kind of got an extra day this week. If only.

I think my Saturday (the real one) shall consist of a trip to Wal-Mart to get some cold medicine and a bunch of tissues for the kiddo. It appears the poor thing is developing a cold. I hate it when he gets sick. It’s so sad. I wish it could be me instead of him.

I wonder if we’ll get to church tomorrow . . . Possibly not, if the kiddo is sick. Aww, I hope he feels better.
