HGotW: Gerard Butler

Welcome to Thursday! If it's Thursday that usually mean that around here it's time for this weeks Hot Guy.

I first became aware of this weeks hot guy when I saw Dracula 2000. He wasn't nearly as well known back then as he is now.

Here he is:

Gerard Butler

And there you have it. That last one is definitely my favorite. I hope you all have a great day and a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration!!

I didn't forget the guys, don't worry. Here ya go:

Rhona Mitra

Have a great day!!

The Gym Tried to Kill Me

I was afraid if I didn't sit down and write something right now I would forget or not get to it later on.

The only problem is that I don't have any thoughts for today's post.

I FINALLY made it to the gym today. I took my Mother-in-Law along. She loved it. I really liked it a lot too. I'm exhausted though.

I'm so horribly, terribly out of shape. I did a mile on the treadmill. Took twenty minutes and I thought I was going to pass out! After some time on the exercise bike I had to lay on the floor for a couple minutes.

I'm going back for round two tomorrow. Although after finding my threshold today I think I'll walk a bit slower on the treadmill tomorrow.

My Mother-in-Law is totally all for it. I think she must be in better shape than I am. She didn't appear sickish at all.

I'm excited to go back tomorrow. Look out weight! You're done! Hit the road pounds!

Random Tuesday Thoughts!

It's Tuesday! Are you feeling random? Click the box and head over to Keely's to join in the random fun!!

randomtuesday

1. There's a commercial that says in order to save energy "Turn off computers and electronics when not in use." I don't understand this "when not in use" phrase. Not in use??

2. Well, I didn't join the gym yesterday. However, it's in the plans for today. Maybe I can talk my Mother-in-Law into joining with me.

3. You would think I would at least have some random thoughts. I don't seem to have any thoughts at all.

4. We had Chicken Fettucine Alfredo with Awesome mushrooms for dinner last night. One of my most favorite meals. I can be full but I still want to eat more because it makes my taste buds so very very happy.

5. I have an impossible task for someone. Anyone interested? Any Vikings/Brett Favre fans out there? Way back towards the beginning of the season there was a game. (Duh) The Vikings team was guarding Favre so well that he bounced around in the pocket for about 7 seconds. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, locate a video of this time in the pocket so I can show my Mother-in-Law (she is a LIFETIME Favre FAN! The "scream until your lungs bleed" kind.)

6. Speaking off . . .  the decible levels in my house last night were Through. The. Roof. (And apparently didn't help anything.)

7. I haven't taken my tree down yet. Don't worry, it's outta here! Soon!

Well, it would appear I'm "thoughtless" today. So, have a great Tuesday everyone!

Joining a Gym

I. Need. A. Gym.

I absolutely need to join a gym after this latest round of Holidays.

In this ity bity town where I live we have an ity bity "gym." I would drive past it all the time but it looked so pathetic. Well, today I decided to check it out.

It's actually a lot bigger than I thought and it had two treadmills and they are expecting their eliptical machine to be delivered this week! Truthfully those were really the only things I wanted. A treadmill and an eliptical.

Do you think a treadmill and an eliptical machine are worth thirty bucks a month if I go everyday?

Yup, I'm pretty sure I'm all for this. I'll probably go back later today and give them my money. I'm already enjoying the thought of plugging in my ear buds and working my butt off (literally)!

Julie and Julia

When I was first seeing the previews for Julie & Julia it didn't really thrill me. There was nothing about it that made it stand out to me as a movie that I just had to see.

Recently I would see it at the Redbox machine and almost rented it a few times. I don't really know why, just because it was there and there didn't seem to be anything else that was catching my eye.

Anyway, last night I finally rented it and we sat down and watched it. Myself, my husband, my Mother-in-Law and my Sister-in-Law.

I really liked it. I was pleasantly suprised.

I only have one problem. WHY did Julia Child have a problem with Julia and/or her blog???

(It bugs me when movies leave stuff like that hanging.)

Oh well, does anyone know? Also, if anyone is interested in making my blog into a movie you can contact me at 555-HeckYea!

HGotW: George Clooney

Welcome to this weeks HGotW! I recieved an e-mail from my Mother-in-Law last week and since then we've had mor than one conversation about this weeks Hot Guy. My Sister-in-Law was here for our party and she joined in the "appreciation."

I'm going to share with you the e-mail I recieved from my Mother-in-Law and that might (just possibly) give you a hint as to who our featured guy is this week.

Can you guess?

George Clooney

(My favorite)

How can you not appreciate that guy?

And for the guys:
Halle Berry

Well, I hope you all enjoyed this weeks edition of HGotW. Come back next week to find someone else to appreciate.

Merry Christmas!

Pinatas and Sugar and Markers! Oh My!!

Well, as I've said a few times already we had our Christmas Party this past Sunday. Tons of food, a bunch of people and fun.

Earlier in the month I had made a pinata for the kids to break at the party. I'm kicking myself now because after all the work of making it I forgot to take a finished product kind of picture. However, I do have a a couple pictures of it in pieces.

Here's the Kiddo, filling a bag with candy.

That boot did not come out of the pinata. Just so you know.

The Kiddo, Neice and Nephew all collecting as many little packages of sugar as they can get their hands on.

And here is my Brother-in-Law and the Kiddo wearing what is left of the pinata.

Between Sunday School, and Children's Church on Sunday morning and the party on Sunday evening the amounts of candy we now have in our house are staggering. I think I could save some for the pinata NEXT Christmas!

Here are a couple of shots of the Kiddo and Neice opening a few small gifts.

Look, markers! Perfect for nice white walls! (I don't suppose I mentioned that they also got 24 packs of Crayola Crayons?)

Have a great day, I think I'll drop by Walmart an grab some magic erasers.

1. When a woman decides to hyphenate her last name. The maiden name comes first then the married name. Is that not the acceptable norm? That's just the way it is. Deal. With. It.

2. We had a nice Party but there is still so much FOOD left. It's ridiculous!

3. Mother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law are going to be staying with us until Christmas. Someone to help us eat all of the above mentioned food! Yes!!

4. I'm so sad about Brittany Murphy. I really enjoyed her work and I'm going to miss seeing her around. Praying for her family and friends. Thirty-two is way too freakin' young!
5. So, Bones. Yup, I think I'm hooked. I just got the first disc of season one from Netflix.

6. Sunflower seeds are the most disgusting food.

7. I got a sewing machine from my Mother-in-Law for Christmas. I'm not into following a pattern and making clothes. So, what else can I make? I've made a couple skirts (No pattern, just old jeans). Thinking I might make some cute blankets. (Because I don't have enough blankets I suppose.)

8. Kurt Warner is Way better looking then Brett Favre. Don't even try to deny it!

9. WHY won't my scheduled posts post when they're scheduled???

Happy Tuesday everyone! Have a great day!!

Precious Moments

Last night J's brother and his wife and two kids stayed at our house.

J and his brother were up till all crazy hours (more crazy than the hours I was up til, and thats just ridiculous) playing xbox and watching movies.

Sister-in-Law and her two kiddos were sleeping in my Kiddo's room.

That left myself and the Kiddo in my bed.

I was laying there trying to fall asleep when a little arm crept around me. He was asleep and had put his arm right around me. It was precious. It occured to me that I wasn't going to have those precious little moments for very much longer.

My baby is growing up. That made that moment all the more special to me.

* If you received all of the gifts in the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas," you would receive 364 gifts.

* Holly berries are poisonous.

* Contrary to common belief, poinsettia plants are non-toxic.

* In 1843, "A Christmas Carol" was written by Charles Dickens in just six weeks.

HGotW: Joseph Fiennes

I fell in "love" with this weeks Hot Guy when I watched Shakespeare in Love for the first time. (By the way, if you haven't seen that movie, watch it, I loved it! and not just because of our hot guy.)

Since then I've seen him around and still appreciate his work. He's also one of the reasons I decided to watch Flashforward and I'm really glad I did that. What a great show!

Anyway, without any further delay, I give you this weeks HGotW:

Joseph Fiennes

There ya go! I hope you enjoyed this weeks Hot Guy.

Peanut Butter Cookies? Really?

Yesterday I baked chocolate chip cookies and Peanut Butter Melties (Also cookies).

Have you ever seen a recipe that just looks so good and you have to try it? I was craving peanut butter cookies and found the recipe for Peanut Butter Melties. The ingredients and process both looked simple and the picture looked really good.

I proceeded to try them. It occured to me that this was a strange recipe for peanut butter cookies because it didn't include any brown sugar. However, I just kept on cooking.

Also, I'm a devout JIF peanut butter fan but I decided that since the peanut butter was going into cookies I would grab a slightly cheaper jar and try to save some pennies (I'm like that). So, I bought Peter Pan peanut butter for the cookies.

ICK! Maybe I've just become too accustomed to JIF or maybe Peter Pan changed their recipe but that stuff is really gross and I don't know how my Dad eats it!

Anyway, I finished the cookies, let them cool and couldn't wait to try one. I popped it into my mouth and . . . Well, let me just say they're okay cookies I suppose but they're NOT peanut butter cookies! (I mean they are but they don't taste like the classic peanut butter cookies that I was hoping for.)

Do you think it could be blamed on the brand of peanut butter I used? I've learned my lessons. JIF from now on!

3. My three year old son tied a shoe for the first time yesterday! It wasn't perfect but it was tied and I was so proud of him.

7. Any Star Trek fans out there? Have you seen the new movie? Did you like it? I think I'm going to have to blog about Trek here in a few days. (Yes, apparently, I have been and always shall be a geek.)

One Week?!

One week until our Christmas party.

I have so much to do!

I've made my list of things that I'm cooking and I've been working today on trying to assign days to them. Like what I can make ahead of time and how far ahead of time they can be made.

I'm going to start working on cookies tomorrow. Then I can do one or two things on Friday. Saturday however is looking like it's going to be a BUSY day!

Plus, on top of the Chirstmas Party stuff I'm also having a small "party" for the kids in the Childrens church on Sunday morning after thier program.

YIKES! I'm tired and stressed just thinking about it all! Should be Fun!

I haven't even made my house cleaning list yet! Okay, I think I need to go now. Whoo hoo! It's party time!

Where is the snow?

Why is it that everyone (or so it seems) is getting snow but us?

I grew up in Pennsylvania, I grew up with show. It's December, its supposed to snow and it's not supposed to stop until March.

Sure, it gets cold here. But for some reason it never precipitates on the cold days. The other day it rained all day. The day after it was 28 degrees. Now if it just could have "rained" on the day  it was so cold it could have been snow. Come on, weather! Get it togethere, now!

The Kiddo prays everynight for snow so he can build a snowman. It's so cute. I sure do wish he would have his prayer answered!

(P.S. HGotW will return next week. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Yeah, like anyone was really inconvenienced.)

Peppermint Mocha

My Mother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law spent the week at our house last week.

I made some iced coffee for my Mother-in-Law to try. She'd had the McDonald's kind before but never the do it yourself kind. She loved it, I created a monster.

We drank so much coffee (actually not very unusual for me). We also tried various types of creamers. I've been trying to find one that I really like for a while now. There are kinds that I think are okay but none of them jumped out at me really.

Well, last week we tried Caramel Macchiato, Hazelnut Biscotti, Pumpkin Spice, and Gingerbread. My favorite of those was the gingerbread.

However, all week we had been searching Walmart for the Peppermint Mocha. Everytime we went we would look but they were always out.

Yesterday, after endless searching, I found it! I snatched it up and whisked it home to my refrigerator.

Today I tried it. Oh. My. Word. It was like Christmas in a Cup. Absolutely delicious! I haven't tried it iced yet but it was amazing hot and steaming.

I highly recommend!

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Rarely do we have enough money to donate to charities. But I do want to share my thoughts here today.

Cate asked "If someone came to you and said "I have one million dollars I have to give away", what would you tell them?"

There are a couple charities that I follow on Twitter and Facebook. And in truth, I would most likely split up that money and distribute it among three charities. Alex's Lemonade Stand and The Breast Cancer Awareness Site are two wonderful charites to donate to.

However, I would distribute the bulk of my money to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I'm a fan of St. Jude for a very specific reason. St. Jude will never turn a child away because of a family's inability to pay for the treatment.

Words are inadequate when it comes to stating how thankful I am for my healthy child. I am blessed. But there are people out there who are facing things that are unimaginable to me. And I also know that if I were ever in that situation I would never be able to afford that kind of help. Never.

St. Jude is able to offer their services to families very much in need, who cannot pay, because of the donations of other people.

"Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not."

Random Tuesday Thoughts!

Random! Random! Random! Happy Random Tuesday! Click the Random box below and join the fun over at Keely's blog!

1. Many Years ago when I was much much younger I was involved in a conversation regarding Holidays. Someone was complaining about "made up" holidays. I thought that I would get involved in that trend and make up my own holiday. I created "Zakamingkomo Day." Yes it's a ridiculous name but I was a kid! Zakamingkomo day is December 8 and the traditional food is Chocolate Chip Cookies. Also, you should wear green. So, Happy Zakamingkomo Day!!! Grab a cookie!

2. Live Free or Die Hard was on TV last night. Hubby turned it on and it was already mostly over. All I could think was how have I missed that movie? I'm going to have to Netflix it, I think. (I love Timothy Olyphant but No One can compare to Alan Rickman!)

3. Our Christmas Party is on the 20th. I'm getting excited. I want to start baking some cookies but I'm afraid someone (or everyone) around here would eat them all.

4. Made a Pinata for the Kiddo's to smack around at the party. I'm a little worried that the ribbon that I've attached isn't going to hold it up. I guess we'll find out.

5. I have absolutely no idea what's up with this guy but this is hilarious!

6. I grew up a Pepsi drinker. I married J and he converted me to Dr. Pepper. I decided to try and lose some weight, so I switched to Diet Coke. I think I may be a Diet Coke drinker for life. (And I used to HATE Diet soda. Actually, I still hate most kind of diet soda.)

UGH!!!!!!!

So people make me so cranky! I will never ever ever understand them! And just when it looks like they're changing, when it looks like they're improving that ridiculous attitude WHAM! They strike again!

If it's not yours, Don't Touch It! What kind of a person are you?! Thoughtless! Uncaring! Heartless! Start acting like a parent!

I realize this is a short post and it's all ranty and punchy but I just had to rant somwhere and it's my blog and I figured this was as good a place as any. Sorry folks.

Come back tomorrow for some Random Thoughts. They're bound to be more upbeat than this.

Finding Treasure on Saturn

I heard a story once about a woman who lived very long ago. She had  two sons. She was sad because both of her sons chose to head out to sea and become sailors. Everyday she was fearful for their safety. She would stare at the ocean and wonder why on earth her sons had chosen such a dangerous occupation.

One day she walked into her house and it hit her. Above their mantle was a giant painting of a Clipper ship being tossed in the frothy waves. Her boys had grown up seeing that painting. To them it represented adventure and the unknown. They were chasing after that adventure when they chose their career paths.

My sons bedroom is a collage of planets, stars and spaceships. Everywhere you look in his room is something that represents outer space.

Yesterday my three year old son came up to me and said "I'm going to take an airplane to Jupiter and Saturn and find treasure!"

I guess I have myself to blame for decorating his room that way. Looks like I have a future astronaut on my hands.

Christmas Money

I'm a very practical person.

My Mother-in-Law has asked me, in the past, what I want for Christmas. So I tell her, maybe, that I need some curtains, or a throw rug. She then tells me she doesn't want to know what I need she wants to know what I want. Well, that is what I want.

She wants me to tell her that I want a pair of black heels and super cute purse and maybe a bunch of clothes. Well, I already have black heels that I'm very happy with, I use a purse until it falls apart and then I get a new one. And I wear the clothes that I have because I feel it's a waste of money to buy more when the ones that I have work very well. (I do appreciate her desire to gift give though, of course.)

When you ask what I want for Christmas and I tell you what I need, that IS what I WANT. I want the things that I need.

It seems silly to me to spend money on stuff that is not necessary when maybe a bill needs to be paid (especially with our current circumstances) or we just really do Need laundry detergent.

I don't know, I guess I'm abnormal.

Busy Doing Nothing

I apologize for the quality of my posts this week.

We've been having a lot of fun around here, mostly doing nothing. My Mother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law have been here since Friday.

We've cooked a bunch of food, washed a Billion dishes, watched movies, hung out, surfed the net, and put up my Christmas tree.

I'm hoping that today we get out of the house (Not that we haven't left the house at all, we have) and do some shopping. Even if I am broke I can at least look.

I also enjoy the ride and the chance to check out some Christmas lights in the area as well as the newest Christmas stuff in the stores.

I suppose we'll see where the day takes us. Have a nice Wednesday everyone!

Random Tuesday Thoughts!

Grab the little box below and pop over to Keely's blog to participate in the awesomeness that is Random Tuesday Thoughts!!

randomtuesday

1. Just to reiterate something that I've said a number of times before . . .  I believe that Christmas should last longer than one day. At LEAST three. The day after Christmas is such a downer. Why does it have to be only one day?

2. I like football. I like cheering for football games. I do not like screeching and screaming and yelling and freaking out and "screaming until your lungs bleed!" (Heard that in a commercial.)

3. Screaming and screeching raise my blood pressure and I just want to freak out and scream at the person who is screaming to stop screaming!

4. WHAT is wrong with Tom Brady?!?! He was throwing that ball to people that weren't even there!! Was he halucinating players out there, or what?

5. Are You Kidding Me?!!?!?!?!? WHY?!!?!?!?! I Don't think so! No way!

6. FACT: It's hard to put your 3 year old to bed when there are people yelling and laughing and having a blast in your living room.

7. We had an "all night" movie night last night. I am SO tired.

8. You know what happens when a group of people watch a funny movie at 3 am? A lot of silliness, that's what!

9. Sooooo tired.

10. WHERE is my Spell check???? Someone, please help??

11. Have a great day!

A Christmas Tradition

Christmas Tree is up! I can't believe it took me so long to get it up this year. The past two years it was up before Thanksgiving. I like to spread my love of Christmas out for as long as I can. As a matter of fact I think we should celebrate Christmas for more than one day.

Anway, my Sister-in-Law helped me haul it all out of storage and then I built it in the living room. Let me tell you, I have a HUGE beautiful tree but it's kind of large for my little living room.

Anyway I'm building the tree and I get to the top and realize that I have a whole other set of branches and no where to put them. So, I drop to the ground and crawl under the tree to find that I missed a whole row of branches.

At this moment realization hits and I remember . . . I did the SAME thing last year! Seriously? How do you mess up an artificial tree TWO YEARS IN A ROW?????

Luckily it was the bottom row that I missed. Well, what I actually did was start the bottom row a level higher than it was supposed to be. So, unless I tell someone (like, I told you) you wouldn't know that I even missed it.

Maybe next year I'll get it right? Or maybe I'll just continue the tradition.

Yada Yada Yada

I'm sitting here trying to come up with something to entertain my readers . . . so far nothings happening.

We put my Christmas tree up yesterday. I have a story about that. Look for it tomorrow.

I'm feeling very random at the moment. So, I went over to Wikipedia and clicked on random aritcle. I got a ton of articles about people I've never heard of. A couple of bugs and a few music albums.

Needless to say, I have nothing amazing or mind blowing for you today.

So, let me just say this: I hope everyone had a spectacular Thanksgiving and enjoyed much family time and much food. I'm looking forward to white Christmas . . .  In. My. Dreams! (It's not fair that we don't get snow.)

Sneaky, Sneaky

I made gingerbread cookies the other day. I put them all in the cookie bucket and put the cookie bucket in it's usual spot.

The Kiddo would ask for a cookie every now and then and I would often give him one. Not all the time of course, but you know.

Well, I went for a cookie a couple days ago and when I opened up the bucket there were about four cookies left. I had noticed earlier that day that the bucket was looking sparse but didn't think too much about it.

Anyway, I grabbed my cookie and sat down. Then I said to J, "I think the Kiddo's been sneaking cookies while I'm not looking."

J answered,  "He has. Everytime you leave he gets one and gives me one."

No wonder my cookies are disappearing.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I would like to take this opportunity to list just a few of the things that I'm thankful for.

* My family. I am blessed with a wonderful family. Immediate and extended on both mine and my husband's sides (for the most part.)

* Good health. Especially that I have a healthy child.

*A place to live. Even though it's not a mansion or even a large house. I love my little apartment.

* Food to eat. I may not be able to afford Olive Garden and Red Lobster all the time (or at all) but I also have more to eat than a bowl of rice once a day.

* Clothes. Even if they're not brand new and I might be wearing the same clothes now that I wore in College. The bright side? I haven't gained too much weight and they still fit me.

* Cell phone, internet and all those little luxuries.

There are so many more things but I didn't want to bore anyone with an extensive list. I hope you all take time to be thankful today. Have a WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!

HGotW - Johnny Depp (Fourth Edition)

I figured  since he was voted Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine I would feature Johnny Depp this week. I think he's a great actor. It seems as though he's a chameleon. Whatever role he takes on he becomes that character.  I caught This Interview with him on Letterman. It was funny how very soft spoken he was. It seemed like David was pulling teeth to get him to speak. It was cute. Anyway . . .

Johnny Depp

So, he's the "Sexiest Man Alive" and the sexiest pirate ever. Hehe.

And for the guys (And I have to say she's really pretty.)

Kate Beckinsale
